Jonathan Hanson has been based in Baltimore for the past three years after spending close to a year between Santa Fe, New Mexico, and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where he worked for the Santa Fe Workshops. While in Mexico, he studied Spanish and Mexican culture, falling in love with the beauty of Mexico. The time spent south of the border and in New Mexico helped pave the way for his skill with the use of bold color, composition, and the subtleties of body language. After his adventures in Mexico, he returned to the U.S. and is currently based in Baltimore, Maryland, available for freelance commercial and editorial assignments worldwide.
He has a B.A. in Magazine Journalism from Drake University, attended Ohio University’s Visual Communications M.F.A. for a year, and attended the Eddie Adams Workshop in 2010. His work has been recognized by the Magenta Foundation Flash Forward Award 2010, the National Press Photographers Association, and the International Color Awards. Recent clients include The Wall Street Journal, The London Times, The New York Times, Bloomberg News, NPR, The Advocate, AARP Bulletin, USA Today, Dewalt, Baltimore Magazine, Forest City Enterprises, Patuxent Publishing, Howard Magazine, and The Santa Fe Workshops, among others.
